Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Amber Brown, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping youth, young adults, and families navigate life’s challenges and move toward healing and growth. With over eight years of experience in community-based, in-home, residential, and outpatient mental health settings, I bring a compassionate and evidence-based approach to therapy tailored to meet each client’s unique needs.

My clinical work focuses on trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and emotional and behavioral health. I specialize in supporting clients dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, oppositional behaviors, grief, and family system disruptions. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Solution-Focused Counseling, among other therapeutic modalities.

I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore life’s difficulties and work collaboratively with clients to set meaningful goals. Whether it’s navigating childhood trauma, developing coping skills, or fostering family unity, I aim to serve as a steady advocate and guide.

In addition to therapy, I bring extensive experience in care coordination, educational advocacy (including IEPs and 504 plans), and working with multidisciplinary teams, including DHR/CPS, schools, and juvenile court systems. I am dedicated to culturally competent care and passionate about serving underserved and high-risk populations.

If you’re looking for a therapist who values connection, clarity, and real change—let’s start the conversation.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, collaborative, and rooted in empathy, respect, and empowerment. I believe every individual and family has inherent strengths, and my role is to help uncover and build on those strengths to foster healing, growth, and resilience.

With a background that spans residential treatment, in-home therapy, and outpatient services, I work from a holistic and systems-based perspective—recognizing the complex interplay between emotional health, family dynamics, school systems, and community support. I incorporate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and crisis intervention techniques tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

I focus on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals and families feel heard and supported. I strive to understand the full context of a person's life—including cultural, developmental, and systemic factors—and advocate strongly for clients in both therapeutic and external environments (such as schools or child welfare systems).

Whether working with a teen navigating trauma, a parent struggling with communication, or a family facing conflict or transitions, I aim to walk alongside my clients as a guide, advocate, and partner in their healing process.

What you can expect from me

In our sessions, clients can expect to gain practical tools they can use in their daily lives to manage stress, regulate emotions, and communicate more effectively. Together, we work to build greater self-awareness, helping clients better understand their thoughts, behaviors, and emotional responses. For families, our work focuses on strengthening relationships, improving communication, and fostering healthier dynamics at home. I also help clients navigate complex systems—such as schools, child welfare, or the legal system—so they feel supported and empowered in advocating for themselves or their children. Whether we're addressing trauma, anxiety, parenting challenges, or life transitions, clients leave our sessions feeling heard, validated, and equipped with clear strategies to move forward. Most importantly, I strive to create a space of safety and hope, where healing feels possible and meaningful change can begin.
