Great to meet you!

I have worked in mental health/social work for over 15 years. I am a problem solver and advocate by nature. I specialize in life transitions (including but not limited to graduating, getting married, having a child, changing careers), depression, anxiety and trauma.

I am passionate about women's rights and enjoy working with women to identify thoughts and behaviors ingrained by society and how to change them for more freedom and balance. I also specialize in working with mothers (working, on-the-go or at-home). I'm a Mom of two and often rely on my personal experience as a tool in therapy. I like to work with mothers to find balance in their lives and to transition into motherhood with ease.

My approach to therapy

I am a cognitive behavior therapist by training. I work with individuals to identify thoughts and behaviors that are inhibiting their lives and to restructure these thoughts to be more beneficial. The ultimate goal is to find more helpful ways of thinking so you can live with more ease. I am also trained in dance/movement therapy and study the body and movements to understand how you are feeling and your history. I predominantly provide verbal therapy but if you are open to movement work, I will provide movement-based interventions and body-based practices (e.g. mindfulness, understanding bodily cues, regulation skills).

What you can expect from me

In the first session I will work with you to understand your reason(s) for starting treatment and how I can help you reach your goals. I will start to collect information about your background to have a context for your current experience (I will try my best not to ask you 800 questions and to spread my questions out in the first 3-5 sessions). Session will end with me giving you a short overview of my treatment style, reviewing treatment goals and collaboratively deciding next steps (e.g. treatment frequency). In subsequent sessions we will work together to problem solve, build coping skills and to identify thoughts and behaviors that are inhibiting your life. We will explore how thought and behavior patterns developed and how you would like them to change. Session will always remain a judgement-free zone.
