Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Amy Bassett-Wells, a Licensed Professional Counselor providing telehealth therapy throughout Texas.

If you constantly overthink, feel stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns, carry the weight of past experiences, or find yourself reacting in ways you don't fully understand, therapy can help. Many of my clients have spent years trying to "just get over it," only to realize that insight alone isn't enough when your nervous system is still holding onto old experiences.

I specialize in working with adults, teens, and couples experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. My approach combines EMDR, attachment-focused therapy, and relational approaches to help you move beyond simply managing symptoms and begin creating lasting change.

Together we'll explore how past experiences continue to influence your emotions, relationships, and sense of self while building practical tools to help you feel more grounded, connected, and confident. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood, challenged when appropriate, and supported as you build the life and relationships you want.

My approach to therapy

I believe symptoms like anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and relationship struggles are rarely the real problem—they're often the nervous system's best attempt to protect us after difficult experiences.

My role isn't simply to help you cope with symptoms, but to help you understand where they came from and create lasting change. Using EMDR, attachment-focused therapy, and relational approaches, we'll work together to process painful experiences, break old patterns, and build healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and active. I'll provide support while also helping you gently challenge the beliefs and patterns that may be keeping you stuck so you can move toward the life and relationships you truly want.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and many clients worry they'll have to know exactly what to say. You don't. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful.

During our first session, we'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what you've been experiencing, and what you hope will be different in your life. I'll ask questions to better understand your story, explain how I work, and answer any questions you have along the way.

Together, we'll begin identifying patterns, clarify your goals, and develop a plan that feels right for you. There is no pressure to share everything at once—we'll move at a pace that feels safe while building a strong foundation for meaningful, lasting change.
