Great to meet you!

You shouldn’t have to spend half of therapy explaining your disability, neurodivergence, or why certain things are harder for you than they might be for someone else. I’m a totally blind therapist, and I specialize in working with disabled and neurodivergent people. My approach is disability-affirming and neurodivergent-affirming, which means I’m not here to teach you how to mask better or treat parts of who you are as something that needs to be fixed. I want therapy to be a place where you can be yourself and feel understood. I also work with people dealing with anxiety, burnout, major life changes, difficult relationships, and complex family dynamics. A lot of my work focuses on things like boundaries, self-advocacy, confidence, emotional regulation, and figuring out how to navigate relationships or systems that don’t always understand your needs. I especially enjoy working with people who have spent a lot of their lives feeling misunderstood. I also work with parents and caregivers of disabled and neurodivergent children who are dealing with stress, advocacy, changing family roles, or simply trying to balance caring for someone else with taking care of themselves. My style is warm, straightforward, and collaborative. I’m not going to sit silently and expect you to figure everything out on your own. We’ll talk things through, look at what is and isn’t working, and find practical strategies that actually make sense for your life. Whether you’ve been disabled your whole life, are adjusting to a new diagnosis or disability, are trying to better understand your neurodivergence, or are dealing with complicated family or relationship dynamics, you don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, affirming, and practical. I don’t believe therapy should feel like you’re talking to someone who just nods and takes notes. I’m active in sessions, I ask questions, offer feedback, and help you come up with strategies you can actually use outside of therapy.I also know that the same coping skill doesn’t work for everyone. We’ll figure out what works for you based on your needs, personality, relationships, environment, and lived experiences. I use a strengths-based approach and pull from different therapeutic techniques rather than trying to fit every client into one specific method.Disability and neurodivergence are also viewed as parts of a person’s identity and experience, not automatically as problems that need to be fixed. At the same time, I make room for the very real frustration, grief, burnout, or barriers that can come with navigating a world that isn’t always accessible or understanding.Ultimately, I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be honest, feel understood, and leave with a better understanding of yourself and something useful to take with you

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting to know each other and figuring out what you want from therapy. I’ll ask about what brought you in, what’s been going on in your life, what you’ve tried before, and what you would like to be different. You don’t need to come in knowing exactly what your goals are or having your whole story organized. We can figure that out together. I also want to know what has and hasn’t worked for you in therapy before, what helps you feel comfortable, and what you need from me as your therapist. By the end of the session, my goal is for us to have a clearer idea of what you’d like to work on and how I can support you. It’s also a chance for you to get a feel for me and decide whether I seem like someone you’d feel comfortable working with. There’s no expectation that you share everything about yourself in the first hour. We can go at a pace that feels right for you.
