Great to meet you!

I am a counselor who works primarily with adults and young adults. I have worked in both the mental health and medical fields for over 10 years, practicing as a registered psychotherapist and Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in Denver for the past 4 years. I obtained my Licenses in Addiction Counseling and Professional Counseling in 2020.

I have experience working in a variety of settings, including private practice, community clinics, and the Department of Corrections. I earned my undergraduate degree in nursing from Texas Christian University and my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. I have also completed specialized training through the EMDR Institute to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, with a focus on trauma therapy in addition to psychotherapy.

My background in both medical and mental health care allows me to view each client as a whole person. This holistic perspective recognizes how many aspects of an individual’s life and experiences contribute to their current challenges. Together, we will work to develop the tools and insights needed to create a more balanced and fulfilling way of living.

My approach to therapy

First and foremost, I believe that humans are innately resilient and capable of change. This change happens when you are willing to look deeply at your challenges with curiosity and a desire to better understand yourself. You are the expert on your own life, and together we can make sense of your experiences and collaboratively create a treatment plan that feels meaningful and supportive to you. I listen with curiosity, respect, humility, and grace, and I strive to create a judgment-free, compassionate space where you can heal and grow at a pace and in a way that feels right for you.

I believe that each person already has many of the internal strengths needed to move toward the life they want. Through discussion, reflection, and the counseling process, you can access what is already within you while discovering new ways to live with greater balance. By building on your existing strengths and learning new tools and perspectives, you can work toward lasting change. The skills and strategies we use in counseling are grounded in research and applied with care to support your growth.

I draw from a variety of counseling approaches, but I primarily view each client through the lens of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is based on the understanding that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are deeply connected. Through this work, you can learn to recognize patterns in your thinking and shift your perspective, which in turn can positively influence how you feel and act. These foundational skills developed through talk therapy also support the effectiveness of EMDR therapy. EMDR is an adjunctive approach that helps the brain reprocess memories and experiences more efficiently, allowing you to become less emotionally impacted by past events and move forward with greater ease.

What you can expect from me

When you’re ready to explore the resources and support available to you, we’ll follow a simple process to help you get started on the right path:

  • Contact me by phone or email to express your interest in counseling.
  • We will schedule an initial phone call to gather some basic information, set up your first consultation, or provide a referral if needed.
  • Once your initial consultation is scheduled, I will give you access to a secure and confidential patient portal where all communication, forms, invoices, and payments will be managed.
  • At least 24 hours before your first session, please log into the patient portal to complete the required paperwork. If you have difficulty accessing the portal, please plan to arrive 30 minutes early to complete the forms in person.
  • The initial consultation is an opportunity for us to meet, for you to see the office, and to determine if we are a good fit. We’ll briefly talk about what you’re experiencing, what counseling may look like, and I’ll answer any questions you have.
  • After this meeting, I may offer a referral if it doesn’t feel like the right fit, or we will schedule a 50-minute session for the following week.
  • Follow-up sessions will be guided by your individualized treatment plan that we create together.
  • You will continue to have access to the patient portal between sessions to review important information and stay connected.
