Great to meet you!

Amy Dowdey, LCSW, is a clinical social worker specializing in mental health. Amy has over 20 years of experience working in mental health and social services. Amy specializes in working with trauma, anxiety, and depression, and has advanced training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Biology at Texas Woman’s University and her Master of Science Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington.

My approach to therapy

In therapy, I use a collaborative approach, which shapes a working relationship to build upon your unique skills, abilities and experiences. This allows working together for common purpose; toward symptom relief and constructing the life you want to lead. Often, the therapeutic relationship developed allows for change and healing within that context.

What you can expect from me

Perhaps you have tried, even repeatedly, to make changes. Finding a healthy way to bring about the changes you desire can be a difficult undertaking and will take commitment to yourself. Psychotherapy can be a positive, educational experience, which at times may be difficult, but ultimately rewarding.
