Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Amy Gelles. I’ve been a therapist for over 20 years, with an MSW from Columbia University—but more importantly, I genuinely love helping people figure themselves out.

I didn’t end up here by accident. I started as a social worker in underserved communities, worked my way up to CEO of a major behavioral health agency... and then made a very intentional pivot back to what I love most: sitting with people (in person or on Zoom) and helping them to feel better.

So many of us are walking around thinking, “Why do I keep doing this?” or “Why do I feel this way?” ...and not getting great answers.

That’s where I come in.

I help you connect the dots, understand the patterns you’ve been stuck in, and actually shift them—so life starts to feel easier, clearer, and a lot happier - that is what I pride myself on doing.

I bring depth, insight, and a wide lens from years of experience—but also humor, honesty, and a very human approach.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, practical, and deeply grounded in years of experience. Together, we’ll untangle anxiety and depression, make sense of confusing or overwhelming emotions, and build real-world tools that help you feel calmer, clearer, and more in control. I’ve helped countless clients break old dating patterns, quiet the inner critic, and heal from long-standing struggles with food and body image. Therapy with me may challenge you at times—but it’s always rooted in compassion, respect, so you can reach your personal goals for change.

What you can expect from me

I take the time to understand who you are, what you’re struggling with, and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.I offer a warm, thoughtful, and nonjudgmental environment where you can speak openly and feel truly understood. Our work together is collaborative and focused on helping you gain insight, emotional clarity, and practical ways to manage life with greater calm and confidence.
