Great to meet you!
Finding the right psychiatric provider can feel overwhelming, and my goal is to make the process as comfortable and collaborative as possible. I believe you should leave each appointment feeling heard, understood, and with a clear plan moving forward.
I specialize in treating adults experiencing depression, anxiety, insomnia, and the often-overlooked emotional and physical changes that come with perimenopause and menopause. I also work with men experiencing symptoms related to hormonal health, such as low energy, decreased motivation, mood changes, and reduced libido. In addition, I provide medical weight management because I recognize that mental health, hormones, sleep, and physical health are all closely connected.
Patients often describe me as approachable, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. I believe laughter has a place in healthcare, and when appropriate, I like to bring a little humor into our sessions. My style is warm, supportive, and honest, and I take the time to explain your diagnosis, treatment options, and the "why" behind my recommendations so you can feel confident in your care.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, my Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care from the University of South Alabama, and my post-graduate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certificate from the University of Alabama.
My background in both primary care and psychiatry allows me to look beyond symptoms and consider how medical conditions, hormones, sleep, and lifestyle may be affecting your mental health.
I use an evidence-based, individualized approach to medication management, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all treatment plan. Together, we'll develop a plan that aligns with your goals and helps you feel like yourself again.
Warmly,
Dr. Amy Romick, DNP, PMHNP-BC, A-GNP-C, ACHPN
