Hi there! I'm Amy, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who loves working with children and teens. I blend my experience as both a mental health provider and former educator to help young people thrive through challenges. My practice offers medication management and therapy in a supportive, judgment-free space where patients can feel comfortable.

I've worked in various clinical settings throughout California, including private practice, community clinics, and school-based programs. This diverse experience helps me understand the many environments that impact a child's wellbeing. My education includes specialized training in psychiatric nursing from UC San Francisco, along with degrees in nursing and education that give me a well-rounded perspective.

I believe in creating partnerships with families to help each child build the mental health skills they need to flourish. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or other concerns, I'm here to listen, support, and work together on practical solutions.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I approach psychiatric care through a lens of curiosity and compassion, recognizing that mental health challenges often reflect our deepest human experiences of connection, loss, identity, and meaning. My practice is built on the foundation that you are the expert of your own life, while I bring clinical expertise to help navigate the path forward. I'm drawn to understanding not just your symptoms, but the person behind them - your strengths, your relationships, your dreams, and the obstacles that feel overwhelming right now. I blend evidence-based psychiatric interventions with mindfulness principles and trauma-informed care, always considering how past experiences shape present struggles. When discussing medication, I believe in thorough education and shared decision-making, ensuring you understand both benefits and potential side effects so we can make choices that align with your comfort level and life goals. I'm particularly skilled at helping people navigate major life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and the complex intersection of mental health with identity and belonging. My office is a place where all parts of your experience are welcome - the parts you're proud of and the parts you'd rather hide. I believe healing happens when we can integrate these different aspects of ourselves with self-compassion. Between sessions, I encourage you to notice small moments of progress and practice the tools we develop together, always remembering that recovery is not linear and setbacks are part of the process.

What you can expect from our first session

What you'll take away from our time together goes beyond typical therapy or medication management. You're going to gain a partner in your mental health journey—someone who combines clinical expertise with genuine human connection. I believe every person who walks into my office has an incredible capacity for healing and growth, and my job is to help you unlock that potential. You'll develop a toolkit of evidence-based strategies that actually work in real life, not just in textbooks. We'll work together to understand your unique brain chemistry and how medications can support your goals, always respecting your preferences and concerns. But here's what really matters: you'll leave knowing that your struggles don't define you. Mental health challenges are part of the human experience, and there's no shame in seeking support. I'll help you recognize your strengths, even when depression or anxiety makes them hard to see. You'll gain practical skills for managing difficult emotions, navigating relationships, and building resilience. My approach is collaborative—we're a team working toward your wellness. You'll understand your diagnosis in plain language, know exactly why we're trying certain treatments, and feel confident advocating for yourself. Many clients tell me they feel validated for the first time in years. That validation becomes the foundation for real change. You'll leave with hope restored, symptoms managed, and most importantly, a renewed sense of your own worth and capability.
