Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Amy Toth, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia. I work with children as young as three, adolescents, and young adults. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and specialize in play therapy. I'm certified in AutPlay, with additional training in Adlerian Play Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and CBT, and I'm currently pursuing my Registered Play TherapistTM credential.

My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, autism, and life transitions, and I bring a genuine, strengths-based approach that helps clients feel valued, understood, and empowered to thrive. I believe children and teens often communicate best through play, creativity, and connection rather than conversation alone, and I create a warm, safe space where clients of all ages can process their emotions, build coping skills, and grow.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your family.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, genuine, and strengths-based. For younger clients, I rely heavily on play therapy — using toys, art, sandtray, and creative expression, since play is a child's natural language and toys become the words they don't yet have. With adolescents and young adults, I adapt to a more conversational style, drawing on CBT and solution-focused techniques, always working toward building self-esteem, self-expression, and a stronger sense of who they are.

I tailor each session to the individual in front of me rather than following a one-size-fits-all model. Whether we're working through anxiety, grief, big life transitions, or the everyday challenges of growing up, my goal is to help each client feel truly seen and equipped with real tools they can use outside of our sessions — not just in the room.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what's brought you (or your child) in, your history, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. For parents, this typically means a conversation about your child's development, behavior, and any concerns at home or school, so I can understand the full picture before I ever meet your child.

For younger clients, that first meeting looks different from traditional talk therapy — there's no expectation to sit and explain what's wrong. Instead, I let the child lead in the playroom, exploring toys and activities at their own pace while I observe and build trust. This child-led approach helps them feel safe and in control, and over time, their play begins to reveal what they're working through, even before they have the words for it. For adolescents and adults, we'll spend more of the time talking through what's going on and starting to map out goals together.

By the end of the first session, you should have a clear sense of how I work, what our time together will look like, and a collaborative plan for how we'll move forward.
