Great to meet you!

I am a systems thinker, so I am very inquisitive and I like to get a really detailed family history. What people often present with is just a symptom of a bigger problem. I use humor quite often, but I can also be somewhat challenging if a person is just expecting me to give them the answers. I ask a lot of questions, and will try to give the client alternative ways of thinking about what is going on. I will often use "psycho-education" to share with my clients about what theory says about what is going on.

My approach to therapy

I have studied Bowen Theory (BT) for many years, and will explain the concepts of the theory during therapy. Most people are not aware that everything (or almost everything...) in life can be explained using BT. Even the exceptions can be figured out! If you are curios and want to know more about BT, I am an excellent educator!

What you can expect from me

I start by listening to my clients about the reason(s) they are seeking therapy. I began constructing a family diagram immediately while my client is talking and will refer to this diagram as the therapy continues, adding factual information to the diagram about family dynamics, family history, and individual functioning as they become known. I will use this diagram to point out relationship patterns within the family, help my clients recognize their part in the pattern, and help them think of ways that they can change the only thing they can control: which is their part!
