Great to meet you!

I'm Amy Wood, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker providing individual talk therapy and EMDR to adults via telehealth in Georgia and Florida. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Vermont and have spent over a decade in the mental health field, working across primary care, community mental health, crisis intervention, and private practice settings. My areas of focus include trauma-focused care, perinatal mood disorders, parenting challenges, and anxiety and depression. Along the way I've also supervised graduate-level social work interns, which keeps me grounded in best practices and continued learning in the field.

My approach to therapy

My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, drawing on both talk therapy and EMDR depending on what fits your needs and goals. I believe healing happens at your own pace, so I tailor sessions rather than following a one-size-fits-all model — sometimes that means processing past experiences, sometimes it's building practical coping tools for anxiety, depression, or the demands of parenting. I aim to create a space that feels collaborative and non-judgmental, where you feel heard and safe enough to do meaningful work.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is mostly about getting to know each other. We'll talk through what's bringing you to therapy, your history and current life circumstances, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. From there, we'll start shaping some initial goals and talk about what approach — whether that's EMDR, solution-focused strategies, or general talk therapy — might work best for you. Expect a warm, low-pressure environment where there's no pressure to share more than you're ready to; this is your space to set the pace.
