Great to meet you!

Hello. My name is Amy Young and I am so pleased to meet you. Starting the journey to seek therapy takes courage and strength. I commend you for making the smartest investment you will ever make - in yourself.

I obtained my Maser's degree in 1998 and have worked primarily in the medical setting for 25 years. I have extensive experience in chronic illness, death and dying, and crisis resolution.

My approach to therapy

When a client comes for therapy, my first goal is for the client to feel safe, seen, and heard. I think one of the most important aspects of successful therapy is for client and therapist to have a strong rapport.

After we develop a rapport, and the client has identified goals for therapy, I use a variety of cognitive behavioral and person centered approaches to therapy.

It's helpful to think of therapy like going on a long flight. The client is the Captain and I serve as the Navigator.

What you can expect from me

Clients should expect to feel validated, and have an understanding, that no matter what they are going through they are not alone. All of us, at some point in our lives, will experience loss, sadness, stress, disappointment, anxiety, crisis, crushing, dysfunction, conflict, among so many others. I help clients learn skills to live a balanced, and steady life.
