Great to meet you!

Hello, I am Ana Maria Trejo, a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 12+ years of experience. My focus is supporting adults navigating depression, anxiety, grief, survivors of suicide loss, relationships, communication, and simply put, life.

I worked at a homeless shelter for 6 years where I supported LGBTQ individuals, those facing crisis, homelessness, substance use, severe mental health, and jail diversion.

I lived in Germany for 3 years where I worked with military members and their families on a US military base.

My approach is person-centered, open minded, compassionate, and paying attention to each individual's needs and goals.

I support mental health interns in Florida as their Qualified Supervisor for licensure.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with my newly husband and our senior dog Maya, road trips in our Airstream, yoga, and our future farm.

My approach to therapy

Therapy is a journey of self-exploration. We will uncover how your past experiences shape your present, ways to shift your perspective, and manifest a more fulfilling life. We may start with understanding—for example: what is depression? - anxiety? - how do they show up for you? - what is happening in my relationships? We can identify activating events or situations, thoughts, emotions, reactions versus responses, and behaviors. This road leads to insight on patterns, choices, coping skills, and resiliency. How did they develop? We also talk about biology, it's role in mental health. The only way is through. I am on this journey with you, let's see where it takes us. Come as you are.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a conversation. My intention is to get to know you—your story, we all have a story, what brings you here, as you discover you are exactly where you need to be. Typically, we uncover the reason is much bigger than the opening statement of what brings you here. We will talk about what you enjoy, what brings you joy and peace, what is not working and what you would like to gain from our time together. We will discuss expectations, boundaries and goals, and what therapy might look like for you. Most importantly, it is a time for you to feel heard, understood, and supported. Come as you are.
