Great to meet you!

You deserve care that actually sees you — not just your symptoms. If you're dealing with anxiety, depression, or mood shifts that make daily life harder than it should be, you want someone who listens and treats you as a whole person. Maybe you've tried medication before without results, or maybe this is your first time reaching out. Either way, you want real collaboration, not a rushed appointment. That's how I practice.

I'm Ana, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Columbia University, where I'm also a PhD candidate committed to advancing mental health equity and expanding access to quality care. I trained at Bellevue Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian, with over a decade in mental health — from acute psychiatric care to forensic, community-based, and telepsychiatry settings. My clinical perspective is further shaped by years of behavioral health research at Stanford University. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, with deep roots in culturally responsive and affirming care.

I provide integrative psychiatric care that begins with a comprehensive evaluation and a tailored treatment plan that may include medication, psychotherapy, or both. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, and more — including grief, stress, relationships, and life transitions.

My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I believe in meeting you where you are and working together to find what works — whether you're carrying the weight of cultural, identity, or immigration-related stress, acculturation, intergenerational trauma, or looking for support you haven't been able to find elsewhere. I'm here to help.

My approach to therapy

I start by listening — understanding your experiences, your goals, and what has or hasn't worked for you before. From there, we build a treatment plan together that may include medication, psychotherapy, or both, depending on what fits your needs. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy, and solution-focused techniques, tailoring my methods to each individual. I prioritize open communication and shared decision-making, and I check in regularly to make sure your treatment is working for you. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to bring clinical expertise to support you in feeling better and reaching your goals.

What you can expect from me

Your first sessions are all about getting to know you. I'll take time to understand what brought you in, your mental health history, your goals, and what you're hoping to get out of treatment. I'll ask about your background, daily life, and any previous experiences with therapy or medication — what helped, what didn't, and what you'd like to do differently this time. You're welcome to ask me questions too. By the end of our initial sessions, we'll have a clearer picture of what's going on and begin mapping out a treatment plan together. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard and with a sense of direction for next steps.

Reaching out can feel vulnerable, especially if past care hasn't met your needs. You don't have to have everything figured out. Just come as you are — let's figure out the next step together.
