Great to meet you!

My name is Andrea Arquiett, and I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from SUNY Upstate Medical University. I provide psychiatric medication management for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, offering thoughtful, individualized care across the lifespan.

I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, as well as PTSD, panic symptoms, stress, and other mental health concerns. My approach is centered on understanding how symptoms show up in your day-to-day life, not just on paper.

What you can expect from me is a collaborative and personalized experience. I take time to listen, explain treatment options clearly, and make medication decisions together with you—focused on what is both effective and realistic for your life. My goal is to help you feel more stable, more in control, and supported in a way that actually fits your needs.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is practical, collaborative, and grounded in real-life function. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, my work is centered on thoughtful medication management—using medications as one tool within a broader, individualized plan to help you feel and function better.

I focus on understanding how symptoms are impacting your daily life—sleep, focus, mood, relationships, and overall stability—and use that to guide treatment decisions. Medication is never one-size-fits-all. I take time to explain options, expected benefits, and potential side effects, and we make decisions together based on what aligns with your needs and goals.

While my primary role is medication management, I also incorporate practical, solution-focused strategies to support progress between visits. This may include helping you identify what is already working, building structure and routines, and developing ways to better manage stress, anxiety, or behavioral challenges.

For individuals managing conditions such as ADHD, OCD, mood disorders, Major Depressive Disorder, Adjustment Disorders or anxiety, I emphasize consistency, monitoring response over time, and making thoughtful adjustments to achieve the best balance of effectiveness and tolerability.

I also consider the connection between physical and mental health, recognizing that sleep, medical conditions, stress, and life circumstances all play a role in how you feel. My goal is to provide care that is not only clinically sound, but realistic, sustainable, and supportive of your day-to-day life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding your symptoms and determining whether medication may be helpful as part of your care.

We’ll spend time reviewing what brought you in, how symptoms are showing up in your day-to-day life (such as sleep, mood, anxiety, focus, or functioning), and what you’re hoping to improve. I’ll also gather relevant history, including past mental health treatment, medication trials, medical conditions, and any factors that may impact treatment decisions.

From there, we’ll talk through options. If medication is appropriate, I will explain recommendations clearly — including how the medication works, what benefits to expect, possible side effects, and what the follow-up process looks like. We will make decisions together, at a pace that feels comfortable and informed.

For children and adolescents, I include parent or caregiver input to ensure we have a full picture and a plan that works across settings.

By the end of the visit, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of what’s going on, whether medication is indicated, and what the next steps will be. My goal is for you to leave feeling informed, supported, and confident in the plan moving forward.
