Great to meet you!

Hello, I am Dr. Andrea Washington.

My Masters. Degree is in Social Work and my Doctorate is in Counseling Psychology. I also have additional (ABD) studies in Medical and Urban Sociology.

I believe that there are times in all our lives when we don’t quite feel comfortable with ourselves or with our situations. These moments can bring about overwhelming feelings of stress, depression and anxiety. We as human beings, unconsciously began to think and or act-out in ways which can be self-destructive and non-productive. This is especially true if the client has experienced or is experiencing any trauma. I will help you heal and become a more content version of yourself.

My approach to therapy

I am a caring, empathetic and knowledgeable person. I meet all of my clients where they are and accept them for who they are without anyjudgement. In our sessions, you’ll find a calm, focused space where your concerns are taken seriously. I ask direct questions, offer honest observations, and help you see what may be keeping you in a uncomfortable place. Together, we identify clear next steps, so you leave each session with perspective and purpose. You will learn to develop a healthier sense of self.

What you can expect from me

Doing our first session, you will gain understanding of the therapeutic process. I am a very open and honest person so please free to ask question's. After the first session, clients have informed me that they feel a sense of pride and personal accomplishment. This is partly because you/the Client has made the first step in your journey award healing. We will work together to identify and develop your individualized treatment plan and therapeutic goals.

Therapy is not easy and can at times be uncomfortable. It takes a lot of self introspection, honesty and dedication as well as, commitment in order to reach your designated dreams, goals, and desires. Please know that you have the power within to make changes in your life. Finally, keep in mind that the challenges that brought you this far did not began overnight. Therefore, be patient with yourself as you progress along your.healing journey.
