Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Andrew Gibbons, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience in helping roles, including work as a pastor, teacher, school counselor, and behavior coach. I take a values-centered, positive psychology approach to therapy, helping clients move beyond feeling “stuck” and into meaningful growth. My work often focuses on concerns like ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and questions around integrating their faith with their mental health journey. I integrate evidence-based approaches I have been trained in such as ACT, CBT, Gottman Method, EFT, and EMDR to tailor therapy to each person’s or couple's needs. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, develop practical strategies, and create lasting change in your life.

My approach to therapy

My style can be best described by a few mottos: Eyes are the Window of the Soul, Knowledge is Power, and Laughter is the Best Medicine. Making eye contact over telehealth may sound like an oxymoron, but my goal is to truly see and witness my clients and connect with them and what they're experiencing. For knowledge, I try to give my clients their money's worth with insight from intensive, well-rounded training and synthesizing it into something that they will benefit from learning and personalizing. As for laughter and levity, I try to bring a warm personal touch that scientists say may be something resembling a personality (for me it's not about cracking jokes but in order to be real with my clients in between the serious mic drop moments) ~ please consult a real doctor if tingling sensations from light bulb moments last longer than 4 hours.

What you can expect from me

An intake appointment with me is threefold in introductions: introducing myself/process, interviewing you to get introduced to why you came to therapy, and introducing a plan (or at least a rough draft of some treatment goals). Progress in counseling with me resembles taste testing a cooking recipe to see if it works: aka we needed to see consistent use of 3 ingredients with our time together: Exploration (talking thru issues), Insight (meaningful pattern recognition), and Application (Working the plan!).
