Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Andrew. I have worked as a Nurse Practitioner since 2014, and before that I spent many years working in mental health across different levels of care, with my experience in the field going all the way back to 1998. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology and my master’s degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and my interest in this work really began in high school when I first started as a nursing assistant. My experiences over the years, including what I saw during my time in the military, helped me understand just how important mental health support can be. Outside of work, I love baseball, coaching little league, being involved in my community, spending time with my service dog Willard, reading and recommending books, and working on woodworking and other crafty projects.

My approach to therapy

My approach to treatment is simple, thoughtful, and collaborative. I believe healing often works best when people feel informed, supported, and involved in the process, so I make it a priority to really listen and make sure each person feels heard. Treatment can include talk therapy, education about what you are experiencing, and medication when needed, always with a focus on what makes the most sense for you as an individual. While I do see the benefits of medication, I believe in using the least complicated approach possible while still helping you make meaningful progress. I want you to leave sessions feeling like you understand your treatment plan and have a real voice in deciding what will work best for you.

What you can expect from me

In our first sessions, I like to take the time to gather as much information as possible so I can create a treatment plan that truly fits your needs. We will talk about the symptoms that are bringing you in, whether that is depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, or something else, but we will also look at the bigger picture. That can include medical concerns, stress, relationships, life experiences, and other factors that may be contributing to how you are feeling. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive space where you feel understood and never rushed.
