Great to meet you!

I'm Andy Novinska, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. I completed my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and have been licensed in Illinois since 2001. Throughout my career I've worked across community mental health, hospital, and higher education settings, experience that has shaped how I think about people and what meaningful change actually looks like. I work with adults navigating mood and anxiety, relationship patterns, and compulsive behaviors, including substance use, gambling, and sexual compulsivity. I offer both in-person sessions in Mahomet, IL and telehealth throughout Illinois.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative and exploratory combining evidence-based approaches with a relational and attachment-based framework. I don't believe you can fully understand where you're stuck without understanding how you got there, so we'll take an honest look at how your earliest relationships and experiences continue to shape how you see yourself and connect with others today. That said, I'm equally focused on what comes next, translating insight into real, practical change that feels authentic to you.

What you can expect from me

Before your first session you'll complete a brief questionnaire — your answers will serve as a starting point for our conversation rather than something we set aside. In our first session we'll explore what brings you to counseling, begin gathering some history, and start to get a sense of each other. There's no pressure to have everything figured out before we meet. The first session is as much about you getting a feel for whether this is the right fit as it is about me understanding where you're starting from.
