Great to meet you!

Maybe you've been holding things together on your own for a while, and it's starting to wear on you. That's often the point when people reach out to me. I'm Angelica, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I work with adults 18 and older who are dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, ADHD, questions of identity, family stress, and the effects of trauma. I also work with people moving through big life changes, the kind that can look fine from the outside and feel unsteady from the inside. Men's mental health and the mental health of people of color matter deeply to me, and I welcome clients who have felt unseen in other spaces or who have never tried therapy before. I also support women with concerns specific to their lives, roles, and relationships.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative. You know your life better than I ever will, so we decide together what's getting in your way and what you want to be different.

I draw on supportive psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). The supportive side means you have a steady, nonjudgmental place to say what's really going on, without editing yourself first. The CBT side means we look at the thoughts and habits that keep the same problems cycling, and we practice other ways of responding. If something I offer doesn't fit, tell me and we'll adjust. Meeting every other week is intentional. Skills only become yours once you use them in your actual life, so the space between sessions is part of the work.

What you can expect from me

Early sessions are mostly conversations. I'll ask what brought you in, what you've already tried, and what you'd like your life to look like. There's no pressure to tell me everything at once, and we go at a pace that feels comfortable to you. As we go, my aim is that you leave sessions with a clearer read on your own patterns and a few practical tools you can use when anxiety, stress, or self-criticism shows up. I also hope therapy becomes a place where you feel less alone with the things you've been carrying quietly. What we keep working toward is steady growth in how you understand yourself and real movement toward the life you want.
