Great to meet you!

Hi! I am happy to meet you. I am a Colorado Licensed Professional Counselor and an Iowa Mental Health Counselor. I have a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and have been practicing for 24 years. I work with individuals who are dealing with depression, anxiety, ADHD, grief, and low sexual desire.

My approach to therapy

I like to get a good background about my clients including a genogram, which is a map of around three generations of perceived mental health, substance, and neurdivergence issues and experiences of abuse including significant deaths and other types of losses. I assess for symptoms, diagnoses, and any general problems with life. I like to explore and identify family of origin issues and how these may be impacting your relationships. I utilize Bowen Systems Family Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, Behavioral Activation, Solution Focused, Existential, and Humanistic perspectives.

What you can expect from me

I assist my clients in identifying what they wish to get out of therapy. I utilize a combination of evidence-based theories/techniques and utilize theories/interventions based on how my client expresses, understands, and responds to these treatments. While I have background and training, my clients are the experts in their lives, so my practice is client centered. I like to get to the root of the issue if it is identifiable, process emotions, and identify how to cope and change behavior.
