I am NYS licensed mental health counselor with 10 years of experience who began an online counseling practice a year ago. I have worked with child and adult survivors of domestic and sexual violence at an advocacy agency, with families and adolescents diagnosed with substance use disorders in a residential treatment facility, and adults in an integrated healthcare setting. I have doctoral level education in advanced counseling practice.
While I use a variety of approaches and techniques based on client needs and interests, my foundation is person centered. I strive to create a therapeutic environment focused on unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathy. Feminist and critical race theory also affect my approach to therapy, and I recognize that systemic stressors impact an individual's mental health. I also am familiar with CBT, motivational interviewing, narrative practices, and trauma informed therapy.
You deserve a safe, nonjudgmental space to break down or build back up. I believe my clients have all the answers within them and are capable of great things. My role is to use my education, training, and empathy to help you reach your goals. I keep an open mind about client goal's as people are different are different interests should be respected.
