Great to meet you!

Welcome! I am Dr. Legner, a licensed mental health counselor with a doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C., and advanced postdoctoral training in Health Psychology and Primary Care Psychology. My professional experience includes serving as a staff psychologist at Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and working with diverse individuals in private practice.

I specialize in supporting adults, families, and Veterans navigating major life transitions, chronic health conditions, grief, trauma, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. My holistic, collaborative approach integrates evidence-based therapies—including CBT, ACT, DBT, and mindfulness—to address both mental and physical health challenges. I am dedicated to helping you find meaningful change, sustainable coping strategies, and a greater sense of control and well-being.

If you are seeking compassionate, personalized care that honors your whole self—mind, body, and spirit—I would be honored to work with you.

My approach to therapy

Life’s transitions, chronic illness, and the challenges of anxiety, depression, pain, or trauma can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to face them alone. I specialize in helping individuals and families find relief and practical strategies for lasting change. My warm, collaborative approach combines evidence-based therapies like CBT and ACT to address both mental health and chronic medical concerns. Together, we’ll uncover what’s holding you back and empower you with tools to improve your well-being, resilience, and sense of control. Therapy is an investment in yourself—I’d be honored to support you on your journey.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, you can expect compassionate listening, gentle guidance, and practical support tailored to your unique needs. I use psychoeducation, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches to help you feel grounded, empowered, and ready to take steps toward your goals. My trauma-informed, culturally responsive style ensures you feel seen, heard, and supported—no matter where you are in your journey.
