Dr. Angela Seckman

I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a nursing and counseling career spanning over 25 years. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology from Ohio State University in 2000, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Otterbein University in 2006, a Master of Science in Nursing from Otterbein University in 2013 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (Psychiatric-Mental Health Lifespan) at Rush University in 2016. I've taught as a clinical instructor and preceptor at both undergraduate and graduate levels. I have experience working in inpatient, outpatient and residential settings with patients ranging from adolescents to octogenarians. Much of my career has been specializing in substance use disorders, although I am happy to treat a broad range of mental health, as well as dual diagnosis. I am passionate about mental wellness and I enjoy helping people be the best version of themselves!

I provide a wide array of supportive therapy styles including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, medication management is my forte. Homework exercises for self-development are optional for your personal needs.

At your first visit, you can expect to receive a full evaluation and treatment planning/goal-setting. If therapy at regular frequency is part of your plan, it can be provided. If you just want to maintain your mental health with medications at recommended intervals, that can be your plan as well.
