Great to meet you!

Hey! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Texas, with a master's degree in counseling psychology from Houston Baptist University and almost a decade of experience in the mental health field.

My interest in psychology began in the Navy, when I found myself needing support and reached out for help. For the first time, I had words for experiences I hadn't fully understood or even realized other people experienced. Having that understanding didn't suddenly make everything better, but it helped me recognize that I wasn't alone and that change might be possible, even if there were no guarantees. My fascination with psychology has only grown since then. What continues to interest me is the complexity of being, how we come to understand ourselves, the ways our relationships and circumstances shape us.

Outside of therapy, I'm chronically trying new hobbies and convincing myself I've discovered my next great passion. I also enjoy making arts and crafts that only a mother would cherish, reading science fiction, watching anime, and cozy gaming. I have three fur children who run amok and my guilty pleasure is a good reality television binge when being completely unserious is the goal.

I primarily work with adult women who have spent years being capable, dependable, and meeting expectations, but question how much of their lives reflects what they actually want. Many are navigating anxiety, perfectionism, emotional exhaustion, recurring relationship patterns, or difficulty recognizing and prioritizing their own needs. I'm drawn to working with women whose outward success or ability to manage responsibilities doesn't necessarily reflect how they're feeling internally. I also work with individuals who have been in therapy before and are seeking a different or deeper therapeutic experience.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is integrative, grounded primarily in existential, humanistic, and relational psychotherapy. I recognize that freedom, responsibility, loss, and the realities of human existence can create both distress and opportunities for growth. Above all, I value developing a strong therapeutic relationship and balancing compassion with thoughtful inquiry and honest feedback. I consider how relationships, developmental experiences, cultural identities, and social expectations influence the ways we think, feel, act, and relate. Drawing from attachment theory, feminist perspectives, and lifespan development, I seek to understand each person within the broader context of their lives rather than assuming that similar circumstances produce identical experiences.

My therapeutic style is collaborative and reflective, with attention to your comfort and readiness. I believe you bring an understanding of your own life, experiences, and values, while I bring my clinical training, perspective, and therapeutic skills. Therapy shouldn't feel like something being done to you, but rather something we do together. You're welcome to ask questions, disagree, and offer a different perspective.

While I value deeper exploration and self-understanding, I recognize the importance of practical interventions. I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support psychological flexibility, acceptance, values clarification, and meaningful action. Some of our work may focus on developing skills and strategies, while other aspects may involve examining recurring patterns, personal history, identity, meaning, or the expectations that influence how you experience yourself and others.

I adapt our approach to your needs, goals, preferences, and priorities. I want therapy to be a space where you feel heard, supported, and challenged to develop greater awareness and insight.

What you can expect from me

Our first meeting will focus on what brings you to therapy while respecting your comfort and recognizing that developing trust takes time. I'll begin by reviewing the information you've already shared during our consultation and intake paperwork, then ask questions about your concerns, relevant history, and how these experiences affect your daily life. We'll also discuss important aspects of the therapeutic process, including confidentiality, the initial assessment, and any questions you may have about beginning treatment.

Before we finish, I'll ask what matters most to you and make room for experiences that don't fit a tidy story. Together, we can identify initial priorities, consider what we may need to examine further, and begin discussing what meaningful progress might look like for you. I recognize that you may be uncertain about where to begin or what to share, and there's room for those questions as we get to know one another.

I believe psychological distress cannot always be understood through symptoms alone, and meaningful change involves more than symptom reduction. Our work can include examining how your experiences have shaped your sense of identity, relationships, and personal values, while considering the choices available to you. Understanding doesn't guarantee change, but it can make choice and action possible. We can acknowledge uncertainty without surrendering possibility.

If you'd like to see whether we're a good fit, I invite you to request a consultation. We can discuss what you need, what I offer, and whether an appointment makes sense for you right now.
