Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Angelika Wimmer. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I work with clients to help them cope with such issues as anxiety, depression, grief, life changes and trauma. I have a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Shepherd University and a master’s degree in social work from West Virginia University. I like to work with clients in building their self-esteem, improving coping skills and improving relationships with others. I am licensed in West Virginia and Virginia.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is person centered. I believe in each client’s personal worth and their ability to achieve their life goals and meet the challenges in their lives. I focus on helping clients recognize their strengths and learn to appreciate their ability for positive change. I have a genuine desire to provide the best possible care for each client and help them achieve a sense of self-actualization.

What you can expect from our first session

I always start with an introductory session, where you’ll have the opportunity to share your story and what you hope to achieve in therapy. I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment that allows you to feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also feeling secure. From there, we’ll work together in the sessions that follow to make these goals a reality for you.
