Great to meet you!

Hi my name is Ani Kamajian. I'm a licensed LMFT currently completing dual licensure and preparing for the LPCC licensure exam. I earned my graduate training from Pepperdine University and have spent the past five years working in the substance use treatment field across detox, residential, and outpatient levels of care.

My clinical experience includes working with adolescents, adults, and couples, with a strong focus on individuals experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. I bring a grounded, client-centered approach that supports stabilization, insight building, and long-term behavioral change, particularly for clients navigating co-occurring mental health and addiction challenges.

My primary treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-focused interventions, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based approaches. I emphasize trauma-informed care and collaborate with clients to develop practical coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and relapse prevention tools.

My areas of interest include complex trauma, veterans’ mental health, mood disorders, and recovery-oriented treatment for substance use. I'm committed to helping clients build stability, improve functioning, and strengthen relationships through structured, compassionate, and evidence-based care.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. I work with clients to better understand the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns that may be impacting their relationships, confidence, and overall well-being.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed therapy, and attachment-based approaches. Together, we identify what is currently creating distress and develop practical tools to help you manage emotions, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, improve relationships, strengthen self-esteem, and create meaningful change.

I have particular experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem, and substance use. I also have extensive experience supporting individuals navigating recovery and the emotional and relational challenges that can accompany substance use.

My goal is not to tell you how you should live your life, but to help you better understand yourself, identify what matters to you, and feel more confident in making choices that align with the life you want to build. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I will meet you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what feels most important to you right now, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I’ll also ask questions about your background, relationships, current stressors, and any patterns you may be noticing in your life.

I want the first session to feel comfortable and collaborative rather than like an interrogation. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to talk about. We can start wherever you feel comfortable, and together we’ll identify areas you would like to work on.

We’ll also discuss how therapy works, what you can expect from me, and how we can tailor treatment to your individual needs and goals. Most importantly, I want you to leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the possibility of creating meaningful change.
