Great to meet you!

I’m Anisa Ortiz, a dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC). I completed advanced training in both primary care and psychiatry, which allows me to approach mental health from a whole-person perspective—considering both emotional and physical health.

Before opening my private practice, I worked in a variety of clinical settings, including addiction medicine and outpatient psychiatric care, supporting individuals with complex mental health and substance use needs. This experience shaped my belief that effective treatment must be compassionate, collaborative, and free of judgment.

I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and opioid use disorder, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with a focus on long-acting injectable buprenorphine (LAIB). I work with adults and young adults who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start—and with those who want clear guidance without pressure.

Clients often tell me they appreciate that I’m calm, approachable, and thorough. You don’t need to have everything figured out before our first visit. My role is to listen, provide clarity, and help you make informed decisions at your own pace. I value working alongside therapists and believe coordinated care leads to the best outcomes.

If you’re looking for thoughtful, supportive psychiatric care in a safe space, I’d be glad to work with you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is patient-centered, collaborative, and evidence-based. I believe the most effective mental health treatment begins with listening—taking the time to understand your experiences, concerns, and goals without judgment.

I focus on treating the whole person, recognizing the connection between mental and physical health. Together, we develop individualized treatment plans that may include medication, coordination with therapy, or other supportive strategies, always guided by your comfort level and preferences.

I place a strong emphasis on education and shared decision-making. You never need to feel rushed into medication or unsure about your options. My role is to provide clear information, answer questions, and support you in making informed choices at your own pace.

Above all, I strive to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where you feel heard, empowered, and confident in your care.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a calm, supportive, and judgment-free conversation focused on understanding you as a whole person—not just a list of symptoms.

We’ll review your current concerns, mental health history, medical background, and any previous treatment experiences. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand how symptoms like anxiety, depression, ADHD, or substance use may be affecting your daily life, relationships, and goals.

You do not need to be ready for medication. My goal is to provide clarity, education, and a thorough psychiatric evaluation so we can explore options together at a pace that feels comfortable. If medication is appropriate, we’ll discuss benefits, risks, and alternatives in a collaborative way.

By the end of the session, you can expect a clear understanding of next steps, whether that includes diagnosis, treatment recommendations, coordination with therapy, or simply a plan to continue the conversation. Most importantly, you’ll leave knowing you were heard and supported.
