Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Ann Melvin! 😊 I’m passionate about helping people feel heard, understood, and supported as they navigate life’s ups and downs.

I believe life can be messy, emotions can be complicated, and sometimes we all need someone in our corner. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can show up as your authentic self, talk openly, and feel comfortable being exactly who you are.

I enjoy helping people work through anxiety, depression, and difficult or painful experiences. Together, we can explore what’s been weighing on you, discover new ways to cope, build confidence, and find a little more balance and peace in everyday life. My approach is compassionate, down-to-earth, and centered on you—your experiences, your strengths, and your goals.

Here's the thing: you don't have to have it all together to start counseling. You don't need to know exactly what to say, have all the answers, or pretend everything is okay when it isn't. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally drained, or simply ready for a fresh start, there's room for you here.

I believe growth happens when you feel safe enough to be honest, curious enough to explore, and supported enough to try something new. We'll take things one step at a time, celebrate the little wins, and work through the tough stuff at a pace that feels right for you.

You bring the real you, and we'll take it from there! 💛 Life doesn't have to be perfect for things to get better, and you don't have to figure everything out alone. I look forward to meeting you right where you are and supporting you along the way!

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practices that recognize each client’s unique experiences, strengths, and needs. I believe therapy should be a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes.

I draw on evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors, and mindfulness-based strategies that support emotional regulation and stress management. When working with anxiety and depression, we focus on developing healthy coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and building practical strategies to improve daily functioning and overall well-being.

For clients navigating trauma, I prioritize emotional safety, trust, and a pace that feels comfortable for you. A trauma-informed approach recognizes how difficult experiences can affect thoughts, emotions, relationships, and the way we experience the world. Together, we can explore these experiences while strengthening coping skills, resilience, and a sense of control.

I view therapy as a partnership. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work with you to establish meaningful goals and tailor our work to your individual needs, values, and circumstances. My goal is to help you recognize your strengths, overcome barriers, and develop lasting tools for healing, growth, and emotional wellness.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting, supportive therapeutic relationship. I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you are navigating anxiety, depression, or the effects of trauma. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, respected, and heard without judgment.

During our first session, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are experiencing, and what you hope to achieve. I will ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, strengths, and existing coping strategies. We will also explore how your experiences may be affecting your emotional well-being and daily life.

Together, we will begin identifying goals for therapy and discuss approaches that may best support your needs. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and learn more about what the therapeutic process may look like. You are always encouraged to share at a pace that feels comfortable for you; there is no pressure to discuss difficult or traumatic experiences before you feel ready.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. You do not need to have everything figured out before your first appointment. Whether you are seeking relief from anxiety, support with depression, or a safe space to begin healing from trauma, we will take the process one step at a time. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the work we can do together.
