Great to meet you!

Hi I'm Ann Swadener; Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have over 6 years' experience specializing in counseling clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, parenting to name a few. I find that life can contain joy and grief at the same time. Needing and asking for help isn't weakness; it is strength and it is how we navigate difficult things in our lives. Life is bigger than any single feeling we're having right now and sometimes carrying that complexity is easier when someone else helps hold part of it with us.

Life can contain joy and grief at the same time. It can be ordinary one moment and overwhelming the next. The same world that gives us friendship, love, discovery, laughter, and meaning also exposes us to loss, uncertainty, disappointment, and change. Those experiences don't cancel each other out; they coexist.

I can meet you where you are in this moment using therapeutic frameworks. I am an artist, gardener and a lover of the natural world. The sight of a hummingbird makes my heart full. I believe finding beauty in the world and being grateful for it is one way to find and sustain happiness or satisfaction in a world that can be pretty disappointing at times.

My approach to therapy

I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions and more. I use empathy, authenticity, unconditional positive regard and when appropriate humor to help create safety and trust in a therapeutic relationship. Most of my clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms with regular sessions and sustained improvement over time.

What you can expect from me

I like to get to know the client a bit in the first session with me. I find out what the client sees as their presenting issue and get background information about their life. I work to create a safe, trusting, non-judgmental environment.
