Great to meet you!

Helping people find joy and meaning in their lives is my biggest passion in my work. However, life has its difficulties, including painful experiences, and when you need help solving what is in the way of getting from one day to the next or pursuing dreams, I want to help you figure out what is happening and help you develop tools to empower you to manage what seemed impossible and to create the life you desire.

My approach to therapy

My goal is for my client to know I am on their side as they face their challenges. I ask them about what they would like to share and how I might best support them. I help them begin to notice that what they are facing can become multifaceted because of how we manage our stressors by reacting in certain ways that may create other issues. I discuss the family system along with all of our life experiences and how they mold and affect us and that we have freedom to change if we decide we would like that. I cultivate my approach to the individual, whether it is a teenager with anxiety, or if it is a depressed, middle-aged woman who lacks supports and is going through a break-up. I work with my client's strengths and help them build a support system as well as coping skills. I often give homework as we near the end of a session, such as a mindfulness exercise along with another task, like a cognitive behavioral therapy tool, such as looking at a situation or thought from another point of view.

What you can expect from me

  • In my first meeting with a client, I like to build rapport by sharing a little about myself and asking them about themselves. I have a warm, compassionate approach with great empathy and like to get a good understanding of what has brought my client into therapy. I ask about what is happening and what kind of help they imagine would be helpful. I share my ideas about what I think would be helpful as we work together in order to give them hope and to see if they would like to share any ideas or expectations.
