Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Anna Stewart, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Maryland.I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. With over six years of experience providing therapy services in the Baltimore area, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals in both community and outpatient settings.

I deeply understand the challenges that many face, particularly those struggling with depression and anxiety, substance use disorders, trauma, and personality disorders. My goal is to create a supportive and compassionate environment where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered on their journey toward healing.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I take an active approach to therapy, which means I don’t just sit and stare at you. Instead, we work together to explore the important issues you want to address, and you will be compassionately challenged throughout the process.

As a therapist with an arts background, I enjoy tapping into imaginative experiences with my clients and using creativity to explore the abstract nature of emotions.

My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed therapy, all grounded in attachment theory and schema therapy frameworks.

What you can expect from our first session

In our first session, we will focus on several important topics:

1. What challenges are you seeking help with?

2. What are your goals for treatment?

3. What values are important to you as an individual?

If you’re unsure about any of these questions at the moment, don’t worry! I’m here to guide you through the process. I hope our first session feels less like a doctor's visit and more like a friendly conversation that explores meaningful topics. I enjoy discussing communication, vulnerability, acceptance, and gratitude.

What are the problems you want help with?

What do you want to get out of treatment?

What is important to you as a person?

If you don’t know the answer to these questions right now, don’t panic! I will help you get there. I hope our first session will feel less like visiting a doctor and more like having a friendly conversation that goes pretty deep. I love talking about communication, vulnerability, acceptance, and gratitude.
