Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Anne Hopkinson (she/her), a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience working with young adults at pivotal moments of growth and transition. I earned my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work and currently serve as the Associate Director of Counseling at Middlebury College, where I support students navigating the emotional complexity of emerging adulthood in high-pressure environments and train and supervise the next generation of Therapists as they pursue licensure.

My approach to therapy

I specialize in working with high-achieving, young adults who may look like they’re doing “fine” on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected on the inside. Many of the clients I work with are grappling with perfectionism, academic or professional pressure, identity questions, and the quiet fear of not really knowing who they are beneath expectations. Therapy with me focuses on helping you slow down, understand yourself more deeply, and develop tools to cope with anxiety and stress—so you can move into adulthood feeling grounded, confident, and authentically yourself.

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and reflective. I believe healing happens in relationships where you feel seen, respected, and empowered. I bring a strong sense of care, curiosity, and real-world perspective into my work.

If you’re ready to better understand yourself and create a more sustainable, meaningful way of living, I’d be honored to work with you. If you would like to hear more about my extensive training in Open Dialogue, Narrative, CBT and DBT please schedule a consultation.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together, you can expect a calm, non-judgmental space where you don’t have to have everything figured out. We’ll move at your pace, exploring what’s bringing you to therapy and what you’re hoping will feel different in your life. Rather than diving into a list of symptoms or problems, I’m interested in getting to know you, your strengths, your values, and the parts of your story that matter most and want to be clear on where you would like to arrive in therapy. Clients often describe feeling a sense of relief after the first session, because they realize they don’t have to carry everything alone anymore. My goal is for you to leave that initial meeting feeling understood, supported, and genuinely hopeful that change is possible.
