Anne Patterson

I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and nearly a decade of experience working in community mental health. I work primarily with adults and older adolescents experiencing mood or psychotic disorders, anxiety, PTSD, and other complex or overlapping symptoms. I have a particular interest in diagnostic clarification and mood disorders, including helping people who are unsure whether a previous diagnosis fully explains what they are experiencing.

I am also a veteran of 27 years of service in the Army and Navy Reserve. That experience gives me an appreciation for military culture, service-related stress, and the challenges service members and veterans may face when seeking mental health care. I welcome both military-connected and civilian clients.

My style is warm, inquisitive, and practical. I believe good psychiatric care begins with listening carefully and understanding the whole person—their history, health, circumstances, and goals. Together, we will develop a treatment plan that reflects your needs and preferences. When medication is appropriate, I emphasize thoughtful, evidence-based prescribing, clear education about the available options, and ongoing collaboration to support stability and quality of life.

Your first session will be a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding what brings you to care and what you hope will change. We will review your current concerns, treatment and medication history, medical health, daily functioning, and the experiences that may be affecting your well-being. You will have space to ask questions and share what has or has not felt helpful in previous care.

By the end of the visit, I will offer my initial impressions and discuss reasonable next steps with you. Depending on the complexity of your history, diagnostic clarification may continue over more than one appointment. We may discuss medication options, additional information or records that would be helpful, and a follow-up plan that reflects your goals and comfort level.
