Great to meet you!

I am currently a licensed psychologist in California, having previously worked as a psychotherapist under supervision for over 14 years. As an independent practitioner, I am accepting new clients, both in person and by remote means.

I seem to work especially well with younger and middle-aged people who are creatively inclined and having difficulty with self-realization and/or interpersonal relationships, from important relationships to everyday interactions with others. In the past, I have worked in community-based and private addiction recovery settings across a wide demographic. I specialize in trauma informed treatment that includes PTSD, depression, anxiety and phobias.

My approach to therapy

My overarching approach to working with individuals, couples and families is to foster a therapeutic environment that provides a deep sense of safety in a alliance built through collaboration. Caring, trust, respect, and curiosity form the basis for exploring, understanding, and working through the life challenges of each unique client. Trauma-informed and client-centered, my style in therapy could best be described as warm, open, and authentic.

What you can expect from me

In tandem with discussion concerning what brings you into therapy at this time, you can expect a first session to also cover information that clarifies the legal and ethical conditions of psychotherapeutic practice as well as specific office policies.

In a first session, I will gather essential information concerning your personal, medical and mental health history, which helps in discovering a starting point for the psychotherapeutic process and, over time, informs the structure, methods, focus and intent of the treatment. Perhaps most importantly, the initial meeting invites you as a future client to ask and discuss with me any questions and considerations you may have. With any luck and the bland neutrality of the interview style aside, our limited interaction may provide you with some sense of who I am as a therapist, how we might work together in exploring your concerns, challenges, and provide you with an inkling of whether or not you feel I'd have your back throughout the process.
