Hi, I’m Annika. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), I bring a dual clinical foundation that lets me care for the whole person, mind and body. My journey into mental health began in family practice and healthcare administration, where I saw how often emotional well-being was overlooked. That led me into psychiatry, where I combine evidence-based treatment with compassion to help patients move toward lasting wellness.I provide psychiatric evaluations and ongoing care across the lifespan, addressing anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum concerns, mood disorders, trauma, grief, and life transitions. I conduct thorough assessments using standardized screening tools and clinical interviews, because accurate understanding is the foundation of effective treatment. I also offer psychotherapy using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and supportive therapy to build coping strategies and strengthen resilience. My approach is collaborative, patient-centered and nonjudgmental. I take time to listen, understand your story, and develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapy, lifestyle changes, or a combination of these. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you with expertise and genuine care.Whether navigating a new diagnosis or seeking renewed support, I would be honored to be part of your journey toward healing and growth.

My approach to therapy

To me, each patient is a complete human being, never simply a diagnosis, a medical record, or a list of symptoms, and that conviction guides everything I do. Holding credentials as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), I combine clinical skill with genuine warmth to provide care that is thorough, individualized, and centered on you.

Every connection begins with listening. Because a clear understanding is the foundation of good treatment, I conduct in-depth psychiatric evaluations using validated screening tools and careful clinical interviews. This helps me understand not only what you’re experiencing, but also the wider context of your life, your personal goals, and what feeling well means to you. My background in family practice also lets me recognize how your physical health may be affecting your mood, energy, and general well-being.

At Mental Health Practitioners, we’re proud to serve children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, supporting people through every phase of life. I address a broad range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum concerns, mood disorders, trauma, grief, and major life changes. We create treatment plans as partners, and they may involve medication management, practical skill-building, lifestyle adjustments, or a thoughtful blend tailored to you.

Recovery happens best in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. My role is to walk alongside you, provide evidence-based care, and offer hands-on coping tools and insight that help you make real changes in your everyday life. I’ll explain my reasoning in clear, straightforward terms, and you’ll have a voice in every choice. Ask me anything, and we’ll adapt as your needs change.

Whether you’re reaching out for the first time or seeking a provider who will truly see you, it would be an honor to partner with you on your journey toward wellness and lasting growth.

What you can expect from me

Our first visit is meant to feel inviting, relaxed, and genuinely cooperative. I know that seeking help for your mental health can feel exposing, and my hope is that you’ll leave feeling listened to, understood, and optimistic about what’s ahead. Nothing you say is wrong, and you can open up at a pace that suits you.

We’ll start with a thorough psychiatric evaluation, which includes an in-depth clinical interview about your present concerns, your symptoms, and what prompted you to reach out at this point. I’ll also make time to understand your medical and psychiatric background, family history, medications, earlier treatment, daily habits, support network, and personal aims. When it’s useful, I rely on validated screening tools to assess for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, mood disorders, and trauma-related symptoms. This careful approach allows me to form an accurate clinical picture and steer clear of the generic care that too often leaves people feeling unseen.

Once we understand what you’re going through, I’ll share my clinical impressions in everyday terms. Education is a meaningful part of good treatment, so I’ll explain any diagnoses, your treatment choices, and the thinking behind each recommendation. As partners, we’ll develop a plan tailored to you that may involve medication management, lifestyle adjustments, or a combination, with referrals to additional resources or support when they would help.

If medication becomes part of the plan, I’ll go over the benefits you can expect, possible side effects, an honest timeline, and how we’ll monitor your progress. There’s never any pressure to decide on the spot. You can rely on candor, kindness, and full respect for your right to choose. I’ll answer each of your questions and confirm that the next steps are clear before we wrap up. Most of all, from our very first meeting, you’ll be treated as a complete person rather than just a label.
