Great to meet you!

I have worked in the field of mental health for almost 30 years. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of MS and I hold multiple certifications within my area of practice, including tobacco education and cessation treatment, youth mental health first aid training, cognitive-behavioral therapy, advanced cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy specifically designed for foster care youth, and certified integrated mental health professional. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Guidance and Counseling from Jackson State University. I have worked in the areas of community mental health, vocational rehab, hospital settings, foster care counseling, and the private counseling sector. I have also participated in several research studies pertaining to tobacco cessation and education. I am a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. as well as a veteran of the United States Army.

My motto is rooted in Philippians 3:13-14, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those which are before, I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Love yourself enough to give yourself the opportunity to succeed!

My approach to therapy

I'm a very direct therapist. I'm empathetic to every situation that a person is dealing with. But I don't believe in excuses and in order to get better one must be willing to embody the process of change. First, acknowledge their situation for what it is. Secondly, accept the fact that the situation is what it is and in order for things to change they must be willing to change. Third, appreciate not just the good of the situation but the bad as well. And last, adapt to the new mindset and behavior associated with the change.

What you can expect from me

People can expect me to be an active listener and not make any judgments or have preconceived thoughts of who they are or what they are dealing with. You are who you are and it is what it is.
