Anthony Freire

Compassionate and caring yet challenging, I am a licensed psychotherapist, clinical director, and supervisor, and the founder of the Soho Center for Mental Health Counseling & Clinical Supervision in New York City.

My specialties include trauma-informed care, psychological trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I also provide counseling for addiction, marriage and relationship difficulties, and organizational counseling.

I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from New York University and completed my residency at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey. In 2015, I received my Certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice from NYU's School of Social Work. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the New York Center for the Study of Groups, Organizations, and Social Systems.

My work centers on helping clients identify and shift negative behaviors and beliefs about themselves. I work with a diverse clientele to improve their relationship with themselves and with others — with the goal of living more fulfilling, connected lives.

At the Soho Center, we take a team approach to individual care. You'll have your own dedicated therapist, but our entire clinical team works collaboratively to help you reach your goals. When you schedule with me, you may be working with me directly or with one of the skilled clinicians on my team.
