Great to meet you!

As a licensed therapist, I specialize in creating a compassionate and affirming space for members of the Latino and LGBTQIA+ communities and their allies. I deeply understand the complexities of cultural and personal identity that shape your experience. Taking this step toward healing is vulnerable, and I'm committed to ensuring you feel seen, heard, and valued throughout our sessions. I look forward to supporting your growth.

My approach to therapy

In every session, my priority is creating a warm, affirming, and empathetic environment where you feel truly safe, understood, seen, heard, and valued. I believe in the power of active listening when working with one another. I approach therapy with deep cultural humility and sensitivity, recognizing the courage it takes to seek help, especially while navigating identity and the unique experiences and challenges faced by the Latino and LGBTQIA+ communities.

Our work will utilize an integrative approach, skillfully combining a variety of evidence-based modalities including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This methodology is centered around you, allowing us to tailor our work precisely to your specific needs and goals, fostering an empowering and truly collaborative therapeutic relationship.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy is a courageous and vulnerable step. My primary goal in our first session is to create a warm, welcoming, and affirming environment where you feel completely safe and respected.

The majority of our time will be dedicated to building rapport and trust. I'll guide the conversation to clarify your experiences and goals. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, review your strengths, and map out what you hope to achieve. To get a comprehensive snapshot, I will ask about your current concerns and your biopsychosocial history.

I understand that sharing your life with a relative stranger can feel awkward, and I work hard to alleviate that pressure. We will conclude by making a preliminary plan for our work. This is a collaborative process, so please feel free to ask any questions you have about therapy. By the end of our meeting, we will have laid a supportive foundation for your journey toward growth and healing.
