Great to meet you!

I am a bilingual psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, including seven years providing advanced psychiatric care in acute inpatient settings. I hold a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University, where I received specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for the management of anxiety. My professional experience spans work with diverse populations, including a strong background in pediatric psychiatry, and I have recently expanded my practice to include outpatient services.

My treatment philosophy is integrative, blending evidence-based psychiatric care with therapeutic approaches that address both the biological and psychological dimensions of mental health. I prioritize cognitive behavioral therapy, culturally sensitive care, and trauma-informed principles to provide holistic and personalized treatment.

In my practice, I create a safe and collaborative environment where each client is respected and heard. I believe in honoring cultural background and lived experience, understanding that mental health is shaped by identity, history, and personal values. My approach empowers clients with practical tools, compassionate support, and insight to navigate challenges, manage symptoms, and build resilience.

Whether working with children in acute settings or adults in outpatient care, my goal is to provide treatment that is effective, affirming, and transformative — helping clients achieve lasting wellness and a deeper sense of self-understanding.

My approach to therapy

My approach to providing care is holistic, collaborative, and rooted in compassion. I blend evidence-based psychiatric treatment with therapeutic techniques — including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and culturally sensitive practices — to address both the biological and emotional aspects of mental health. I prioritize understanding each client’s unique story, values, and needs, and I tailor treatment plans accordingly.

I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. I approach care with kindness, humor, and a non-judgmental attitude, fostering trust and openness. My goal is to equip clients with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to manage symptoms, build resilience, and achieve lasting wellness. Every interaction is grounded in empathy, respect, and a commitment to helping clients thrive across the lifespan.

What you can expect from me

At your first meeting with me, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and safe space where your concerns are heard without judgment. I begin by getting to know you and understanding your unique story, including your history, current symptoms, and goals for treatment. This initial session is a collaborative process — I’ll ask about your medical history, mental health background, and any previous treatment experiences, as well as your personal and cultural context, so we can build a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

I will explain my approach, which integrates psychiatric evaluation with therapeutic strategies, including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and culturally sensitive practices. Together, we will discuss treatment options that address both the biological and psychological aspects of your mental health. You can expect a conversation that is compassionate, thorough, and designed to empower you with understanding and tools for managing your mental health.

By the end of the session, you will have a clear sense of the path forward — including recommendations for medications (if appropriate), therapy strategies, and steps we will take together toward your wellness. My goal is to ensure you feel supported, informed, and confident as we begin your journey to improved mental health.
