Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Antonio C. Ellzey, Sr., MS, LCPC, NCC. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with more than 20 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based counseling services to individuals, couples, families, veterans, and adolescents. My professional background includes work in outpatient mental health, residential treatment, foster care, trauma-informed care, and telehealth counseling services.

I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Master of Science in Community Counseling from Eastern Illinois University and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision at Walden University.

My counseling approach is rooted in authenticity, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), PTSD and trauma treatment, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship concerns, anger management, emotional regulation, and substance abuse education. I am passionate about helping clients build resilience, improve emotional wellness, strengthen relationships, and develop healthy coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges successfully.

I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to heal, grow, and achieve meaningful personal transformation.

I support those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress management challenges, including panic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and sleep disorders. I work with individuals experiencing grief and bereavement, end of life issues, infertility, chronic conditions such as diabetes, and other health-related disabilities that impact emotional well-being.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and client-centered, creating a safe and supportive space where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their healing journey. I integrate mindfulness-based practices, psychodynamic therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life experiences.

Using mindfulness techniques, I help clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, stress reduction, and present-moment focus. Through a psychodynamic lens, we explore how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may influence current challenges and personal growth. Incorporating CBT strategies allows clients to identify and restructure unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen coping skills, and build healthier behaviors that support long-term emotional wellness.

I work with clients facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma-related stress, grief, self-esteem challenges, and emotional burnout. My goal is to provide practical tools, insight, and encouragement that help clients move toward balance, resilience, and meaningful change in their personal and professional lives.

I provide affirming care around identity development, cultural and ethnic issues, women’s issues, men’s issues, maternal mental health including prepartum and postpartum transitions, and LGBTQ+ concerns, including support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals. My practice also supports clients living with bipolar disorder (also known as manic depressive illness), attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD), eating disorders, alcohol and substance abuse concerns, anger management and impulse control difficulties, and complex family or relationship issues.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session with me to be welcoming, supportive, and focused on building trust and understanding. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where individuals feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences at their own pace.

During the initial session, we will discuss the concerns that brought you to therapy, explore your personal history, identify current stressors, and begin clarifying your goals for treatment. I take time to understand each client’s emotional, behavioral, relational, and mental health needs so that therapy can be tailored specifically to their situation and desired outcomes.

My therapeutic approach integrates mindfulness, psychodynamic insight, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and evidence-based coping strategies to help clients increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and develop healthier thought patterns and behaviors.

Clients often leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and more hopeful about their ability to navigate life’s challenges. Together, we will establish meaningful goals that promote healing, resilience, personal growth, and lasting emotional wellness.
