Great to meet you!

I’m a licensed psychologist with a PsyD in Counseling Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University. My background includes training in neuropsychology, vocational rehabilitation, and therapy across the lifespan. I’ve worked in hospitals, medical clinics, and private practice settings, which allows me to support a wide range of clients and concerns. I specialize in:

  • ADHD and executive functioning challenges
  • Anxiety, depression, and mood-related concerns
  • Trauma and stress-related conditions
  • Parenting and caregiver stress
  • Chronic illness and disability adjustment
  • LGBTQ+ affirming care
  • Psychoeducational, neuropsychological evaluations, and presurgical psychological evaluations (through my private practice)

I work with children (ages 10+), teens, and adults both virtually and in person. For children younger than 10, I offer in-person services only, often involving close collaboration with caregivers.

For children under age 7, I primarily focus on parent management training and caregiver support to address behavioral and emotional concerns.

I provide affirming, inclusive care for individuals navigating life as part of the LGBTQ+ community and am especially attuned to the experiences of those living with disabilities or as members of racial, cultural, or neurodivergent communities.

Please note that evaluation services are not offered through Headway — only therapy. If you're interested in ADHD testing, learning evaluations, or presurgical psychological assessments, feel free to message me here or reach out directly: 210-257-9451 or pediatricneuropsychologyspecialists.com

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, practical, and informed by research, along with an understanding of how the brain works and how brain-based differences — like ADHD or executive functioning challenges — affect daily life. I’m actively engaged in sessions, asking meaningful questions, offering honest feedback, and helping clients explore the connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

The approaches I most often use include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – to identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and behavioral cycles
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) – to build on strengths and focus on specific, realistic goals
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to support flexible thinking and help guide decisions based on values
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) – to clarify goals and support meaningful change in a nonjudgmental way

Therapy can involve processing past experiences, building new skills, or both — and I tailor my approach based on what’s most helpful to you at any point in the process.

What you can expect from me

First sessions can vary depending on what you're ready for. Often, it’s a well-rounded conversation where we talk about current concerns, review relevant history, begin identifying therapy goals, and make a plan for frequency and approach. Other times, it may focus more on the immediate issue — especially if you just need space to vent or sort through something. In those cases, treatment planning may unfold over the next few sessions.

While I’m flexible in how I approach each person’s needs, I’m also comfortable setting structure and guiding the process when helpful. I was trained in a brief, strengths-based model of therapy that emphasizes making the most of every session — particularly the first one — with the understanding that some people are just visiting once or as needed. Others stay for weeks, months, or longer. There’s no one “right” way to use therapy.

In my experience, some people use therapy like they do a doctor — they come in when something isn’t feeling right and they want to get back on track. Others treat it more like a regular gym session or a salon appointment — a form of ongoing self-care. Both approaches are valid, and I support whatever feels right for you.

As therapy continues, we might explore both the past and present, depending on your goals. I bring in research, brain-based explanations, and practical tools to help you better understand what you’re experiencing and find new ways of responding. Whether we’re identifying patterns, building coping skills, or working through something more complex, I aim to keep sessions meaningful and useful.
