Great to meet you!

I earned my master's degree in Social Work 29 years ago. Over the course of my career I have enjoyed working with girls and women of all ages. I enjoy supporting girls and women who are navigating middle school, high school, college, relationships, post-partum period, motherhood, divorce, menopause, and becoming empty nesters. I love seeing my clients begin therapy with stress, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief and loss, or trauma then graduate from therapy in a much better place. I believe that you can thrive no matter your age and no matter your circumstances. I have less experience helping transgender women but I really enjoy that work as well. I consider myself a LGBTQIA+ ally.

My approach to therapy

I enjoy being able to use techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Strength Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Focused-CBT, Exposure Relapse Prevention and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing as needed for each client and their individual needs.

What you can expect from me

If you have not been to therapy before, you should know that our first session will be an assessment, sometimes called an intake. Insurance requires that we ask questions around all areas of your life, even ones that may seem unrelated to what brought you to therapy. Either during the first session or second session we will develop treatment goals together. This ensures we are working toward the same goals and also lets us know when the goals have been met and it’s time to say “so long for now.” Starting at the second session I will start using techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Strength Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Focused-CBT, Exposure Relapse Prevention and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help you reach your goals. It is also a requirement of insurance that you complete certain measures at the beginning of therapy and at certain points in your journey to make sure we are making progress.
