Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m April Prior, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with more than 20 years of nursing experience. My background includes pediatric, perinatal, and adult nursing, and I provide psychiatric care for adolescents and adults ages 16 and older. I work with concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma, stress, mood changes, and life transitions, with a special interest in women’s mental health across the reproductive and midlife years. My goal is to offer thoughtful, personalized care that feels approachable, collaborative, and grounded in what matters most to you.

My approach to therapy

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and centered on getting to know you as a whole person. I take time to understand not only your symptoms, but also your experiences, concerns, and what matters most to you. Treatment may include medication when appropriate, along with education, supportive strategies, and discussion of other resources that may be helpful. I want you to understand your options and feel comfortable asking questions as we make decisions about your care together.

What you can expect from me

During your first visit, we will take time to talk through your concerns, experiences, and what you hope to gain from treatment. We will review your medical and mental health history, medications, sleep, stressors, and previous treatment experiences. I will answer your questions, share my initial impressions, and discuss treatment options and next steps with you. My goal is for you to leave the visit feeling informed and clear about the plan moving forward.
