Great to meet you!

I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I have an undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a master’s degree in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley.

I use an intuitive, relational, insight-oriented, and trauma informed approach pulling from 20 years of combined experience in social work and depth psychology. I’m primarily steeped and trained in the analytical psychology of Carl G Jung as I find it to be a psychology that is wide and deep enough for the complexity of a human life.

I’ve worked with individuals from diverse walks of life and have a respect for the many ways in which humans can be dissimilar, whether that be in terms of age, race, ethnicity, citizenship or immigration statuses, language, income, political affiliations, religion/spiritual path/atheism, abilities, and gender and sexual identities. I’ve also worked in a variety of environments, including schools, domestic violence shelters, community mental health clinics, and prisons.

Working with people over the last couple decades as a social worker and therapist has confirmed a number of deeply held convictions: the more we know ourselves the more we can know and love others; our capacity to love is infinite, and that; often what has caused us pain, when confronted, can be what helps us become whole again. I’m grateful to have this vocation and the opportunity to commit myself to the life long study of the human soul and spirit.

My approach to therapy

We will look to the past as growing up, parts of ourselves are encouraged or approved of, and often become dominant, while other parts are rejected, undervalued, or undeveloped and left in the shadows. These less integrated parts of ourselves often hold important information, gifts, and talents that we need in order to feel more alive and comfortable in our skin. I will also ask about known ancestral pasts to get a sense of the ancestral burdens, gifts and blessings you might be carrying. We will also listen and look for the archetypal patterns that are close to you and have been part of your own life story thus far, and we will listen to Psyche for what is trying to emerge for the future.

What you can expect from me

Each therapy is completely different as it is tailored to each unique person. This is what I love about therapy – it honors the individual’s unique personality, wounds, strengths, and destiny. In general I will encourage you to share as openly and honestly as possible about yourself and your experiences, including your emotions, concerns, regrets, fantasies, fears, and dreams. Sharing night dreams can be an important and powerful aspect of therapy as they provide a bridge to the personal and collective unconscious, which helps illuminate what is out of balance, what needs our attention, and where our energy is trying to go. In other words it helps us become more of ourselves.
