Great to meet you!

You may look like you're handling things on the outside while privately feeling anxious, frustrated, disconnected, or unsure of yourself. Maybe you're having the same arguments in your relationship, overthinking decisions, shutting down when things get difficult, or wondering why you can't seem to get out of your own way.

I work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, trauma, and major life transitions, with a particular focus on men's mental health. Many of the men I work with were never really taught how to understand or talk about what they're feeling. They may know something isn't working—in their relationships, confidence, anger, motivation, or sense of direction—but aren't sure what to do differently.

My style is warm, practical, collaborative, and direct. I won't simply sit back and ask, “How does that make you feel?” We'll work together to understand the patterns underneath what you're experiencing, identify what's keeping you stuck, and develop concrete ways to respond differently. My goal is to help you understand yourself better while making changes that actually carry over into your everyday life.

My approach to therapy

Therapy with me is active and conversational. I'll listen carefully, but I'll also ask questions, point out patterns I notice, and sometimes challenge the way you're looking at a situation. We'll slow things down enough to understand what is happening underneath the anxiety, anger, avoidance, self-criticism, or relationship conflict rather than only trying to manage the symptoms.

I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and attachment-based therapy, but I don't believe therapy should feel like you're being put through a textbook. We may examine unhelpful thinking patterns, work on emotional regulation and communication, explore how earlier experiences influence current relationships, or develop practical strategies for situations you're dealing with right now.

I tend to work best with clients who want more than a place to vent. You don't need to know exactly what you want to change when you start, but being willing to look honestly at yourself and try something different can lead to meaningful progress.

What you can expect from me

You don't need to come into the first session knowing exactly what to say or even being able to explain what's wrong. We'll start with what has been happening in your life and what led you to reach out.

I'll ask questions about what you're experiencing now, your relationships, important parts of your history, and what you would like to be different. At the same time, I'll begin looking for patterns that may help us understand why you're feeling stuck.

By the end of the first session, my goal is for you to feel understood, have a clearer picture of what we might work on together, and have a good sense of whether I'm the right therapist for you.
