Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Art, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who discovered a passion for helping others later in life. My approach is grounded in motivational interviewing and person-centered therapy, creating a supportive environment where trust, acceptance, and meaningful change can flourish.

As a combat veteran, I understand how difficult it can be to take the first step toward seeking help. I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences, clarify your goals, and grow into the person you want to become.

I have worked with adults, couples, families, and adolescents across a variety of clinical settings, supporting individuals facing trauma, anxiety, depression, psychosis, and life transitions. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) along with the Flash Technique to help clients process difficult experiences while minimizing emotional overwhelm.

I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), an integrative treatment that can help deepen insight, promote healing, and support lasting change when traditional approaches alone may not be enough.

My goal is to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and respect as you move toward greater healing, resilience, and self-discovery.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy begins with the belief that the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important factors in creating meaningful change. While training, techniques, and therapeutic modalities are valuable tools, I believe healing happens through a genuine connection built on trust, authenticity, and mutual respect.

I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can be themselves without fear of criticism or shame. My style is warm, approachable, and collaborative. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a sense of humor into the session when appropriate, because therapy doesn't always have to feel heavy to be effective.

As a therapist, I'm supportive, but I'm also honest and direct. I believe growth often comes from having real conversations and being willing to look at the patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may be keeping us stuck. I won't push you faster than you're ready to go, but I will challenge you when I believe it can help you move toward the life you want.

I also recognize that I don't sit across from clients as someone who has life completely figured out. Like many people, I've faced my own struggles, setbacks, and challenges along the way. Those experiences have shaped who I am, deepened my empathy, and reinforced my belief that growth often comes through adversity. While therapy is always centered on the client, I draw upon my own life experiences when appropriate to help foster connection, understanding, and hope.

Every client is different, which is why I take an integrative and individualized approach to treatment. Rather than trying to fit clients into a specific model, I focus on understanding who you are, what matters to you, and how we can work together to help you reach your goals.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a therapeutic partnership where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about getting to know each other and seeing if we're a good fit. We'll have a relaxed, nonjudgmental conversation about what brings you to therapy, what you're hoping to gain from the process, and any reservations or concerns you may have about starting therapy.

As part of the initial assessment, I'll gather some background information, including demographics, relevant personal and family mental health history, and other details that help me better understand your experiences and needs.

I also want to learn what you expect from me as your therapist and what has helped—or not helped—you in the past. Just as importantly, I'll share what I expect from you as a client so we can build a strong therapeutic partnership based on honesty, trust, and mutual effort.

There's no pressure to share everything right away—we'll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and understood while we determine the best path forward together.
