Great to meet you!

I am a certified CBT practitioner and clinically trained counselor. I have a Bachelor if Arts degree in psychology with emphasis in justice, and a terminal Master of Science degree in counseling psychology. I help adults discover the connections between thoughts, feelings/emotions, and behaviors as well as how these impact relationships and personal satisfaction with life. I can help you increase your awareness of your thoughts, and challenge those that are harmful and/or outdated. Amending your thoughts will change your emotions, and feeling different will result in changed behaviors. Thinking, feeling and acting differently leads to increased personal satisfaction in life and improved/healthier relationships. I have worked in mental health since 1997 and in private practice since 2007. My goal is for you to love your life, to feel safe and secure in your relationships, and to feel autonomous and comfortable in your own skin.

I work with individuals as well as dyads, triads, throuples and polycules. I can help rebuild trust and intimacy even when there has been a history of infidelity or deceit, teach communication skills to improve relationship strength and reduce arguments/resentments. I can also help you develop and maintain healthy boundaries and protect your personal identity in all relationships you engage in, personal or professional.

My approach to therapy

I am a certified CBT therapist, and I use some tools and interventions from DBT, solutions focused, and Family Systems modalities.

What you can expect from me

The initial session is quite different from follow up sessions. While we will certainly be talking about your primary concerns and the reason for our meeting we will also be walking through several assessment measures and collecting a through bio/psycho/social history for you, and your family. We will look into your childhood experiences at home and in school, your place in the birth order, your current social network, marital status, and whether or not you have children. We will also talk about any medications you are taking and any history of an adverse response to medications. I will ask about any chronic conditions that impact your day-to-day functionality, and last but definitely not least I will want to know about your goals and expectations for our work together.
