Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Asha Wilburn, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in Los Angeles, California, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I believe in a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy, allowing clients to have an active role in their therapeutic journey. My therapeutic style is a strength-based, integrative approach that is uniquely developed for each client. Some of my common modalities include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Humanistic, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

My approach to therapy

My hope is to support you in understanding the root cause of whatever is causing distress and explore useful strategies that will allow you to build your personal "toolbox" that will ultimately lead you on a path of living a meaningful life. Much of my experience comes from treating adolescents, young adults, and early middle-aged adults in areas of anxiety, depression, life transitions, mood disorders, interpersonal and family conflict, work stress, body image, and trauma.

What you can expect from me

I believe some of my strengths as a therapist include the ability to hone in on client strengths despite what they may be going through, creating a welcoming environment for everyone, especially those from traditionally marginalized communities, and leaving space for light-hearted interactions. Therapy will often be challenging, but I believe it does not always have to be strictly serious. In our first session, we will engage in introductions and housekeeping, then I will review your assessments or administer assessments with you to gather your baseline. From there, we will create your therapy goals and plan for our next session. Week to week, we will dive deeper into processing emotions and learn/utilize new tools along the way. Together, we will identify goals that not only shape our work but also help us recognize when you’ve reached your capacity and achieved meaningful progress.
